Saeco's model Family was amongst the first fully
automatic espresso machines introduced in mid 1980s. It was
sold in three different models
These
machines have the original brew group without pre-infusion
valve. The water tank was larger taking the top left half
of the machine. There was enough hot water for serving tea and
hot chocolate. The coffee dose was adjusted with a knob
that engaged a rheo-stat switch to increase or decrease the
dose.
The Family models typically have a five
step timer to operate a series of functions beginning
with grinding, emptying of coffee grounds in the brew group,
moving the brew group to brew mode, pumping water for espresso
and then bringing the brew group back to home position.
There are few units still in use.
Replacement parts and selected model specific parts are
available. When necessary, parts can be ordered. The operating
manual of only one model Family twin is available. The
exploded diagrams below explain most of the parts
locations. |
